The Alabama Gulf Coast has been the backdrop of many movies big and small, but there’s no better way to welcome the spooky Halloween season than with a Stephen King movie.
Gulf Coast Media confirmed today that filmmaker Mike Flanagan will shoot his third Stephen King adaptation, “The Life of Chuck,” in various locations around Baldwin and Mobile counties. The production is anticipated to begin filming Oct. 16 and run for approximately four weeks.
According to the local booking agency, 1,000 extras are needed for the film in a range of ages from 11 years old and up. The bulk of the extras are needed for two large crowd scenes to be filmed in Baldwin County.

The filming of The Life of Chuck is all set to begin in Alabama in October. The production received a waiver from SAG-AFTRA to proceed with the casting for the film. However, since it hasn’t obtained an exemption from the union to move forward with the lensing, the shoot in Alabama can be affected by the ongoing actors’ strike. The Life of Chuck is helmed by Mike Flanagan, who also penned the script before the ongoing WGA strike and stars Tom Hiddleston in the titular role and Mark Hamill as Albie.Thanks to Herbert West

Flanagan said it’s a relatively small film and that film production may begin soon despite the strike due to circumstances that mean the project does not violate WGA and SAG rules. Studios like A24 have already signed agreements which allow them to produce films without any obstacles.
