A Good Marriage

A Good Marriage is a short story about a couple, Darcy and Bob who have been married for 25 years. Just after they celebrate their 25th anniversary Darcy finds out her husband is a serial killer who rapes, tortures and murder women. At first she can’t really believe it but after some research she has no choice but to accept that it’s the case. But now what? Will she stay with him and not let him know she knows? Will she turn him in? What?

The story is in my mind one of King’s best and I think that is because it really make you feel Darcy’s desperation. You feel that she is in an impossible situation. One that she can’t get out of in any way without hurting someone. But she can’t just go on…or can she?

The audio is about 3.5 hours long and narrated by Jessica Heach and she does a great job with it. Much of the reason that you really feel how desperate and stressed out Darcy is has to do with how she narrates it. You hear the desperation in her voice. Originally the story was included in Full Dark, No Stars and now it’s re-released in time for the movie version of it.

Lilja's final words about A Good Marriage:

A Good Marriage is a great story and the audio book really does it justice. So check it out! If possible before you see the movie.
